Ogunquit Maine is a charming coastal town located in southern Maine, known for its picturesque beaches, stunning ocean views, and vibrant arts scene. Ogunquit offers a variety of tourist activities including

- Art Scene: Ogunquit is home to numerous galleries, theaters, and art events. The Ogunquit Playhouse is a notable venue for live performances and musicals.
- Dining: The town offers a variety of dining options, ranging from casual seafood shacks to upscale restaurants, many with oceanfront views.
- Shopping: There are many unique shops and boutiques, making it a great spot for finding local art, crafts, and gifts.
The Ogunquit Chamber of Commerce is an organization dedicated to supporting local businesses and promoting the town of Ogunquit as a tourist destination. Ogunquit is a popular tourist destination, especially during the summer months. While specific annual numbers can vary from year to year based on factors like economic conditions, weather, and tourism trends, Ogunquit typically attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.
The Ogunquit Chamber of Commerce plays a crucial role in the local economy and community by supporting business growth and helping to maintain Ogunquit as a vibrant place to live, work, and visit.
In the Spring of 2024 the Chamber made the decision to relocate its office to a small but centrally located facility. The Chamber wanted to create a depot for guests to help them plan activities, make hotel and private residence reservations, research restaurants and generally speaking, plan their entire visit.
As the Chamber is non-profit and serves its members and the local community. A primary goal was to promote the local businesses. That is where Solutions by Design comes into play. The Chamber found SBD in a simple Google search. Impressed by our turnkey offerings, they contacted our offices and asked for the opportunity to discuss their vision for a digital directory of events, activities, accommodations, etc. We dug in and created a preliminary document with flowcharts and descriptions of the hardware and custom application required to achieve their goals.
Project Description
The goal was to create an interactive experience for visitors and to promote awareness of the town’s offerings including hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, and entertainment centers along with various other tourist sites. We wanted to provide guests with the information that they may need while helping local businesses.
The whole team at Solutions by Design has been amazing. On our first call Bill told me, “No project is too big, no project is too small.” As a very small non-profit with a limited budget, I can attest that this is a true statement.
Local businesses have the opportunity to sponsor the exhibit at various levels. A series of videos were created for participating businesses. Guests have the opportunity to view first-hand the information desired in scheduling their day or days. A QR code was created for each participating business which provides access to the desired location.
The end result, we are happy to say, met all of their needs and objectives and have been an overall success,keeping in mind that a primary objective was to help the Chamber produce revenue from its members via sponsorships.
Bringing a project to life starting from only abstract ideas is no easy task, and I always felt as though we were being treated like their most important client. All of our members are thrilled with the finished product and our entire organization now presents as modern and forward-looking thanks to the team at Solutions by Design. Well done!
User Interface
We wanted to design and create a unique and attractive interface that reflects the beauty of the community. A rotating 3D menu system was designed to enhance the user experience.
Guests can select a topic such as restaurants or accommodations and see a graphic list of member’s offerings. A QR Code was included with each for contact information, etc. We also designed a utility to allow constant updates to add member display ads and videos.
Hardware
A 65” vertical interactive display was installed in the main office for guest access. We designed a system to allow local members to display their services at varied levels of sponsorship. We included videos, and photos per sponsor with descriptions, menus etc. A small server was installed to allow local network streaming due to the volume of videos, this was a much more cost-effective solution vs hosted cloud content.
